Valcourt, Québec, March 2, 2010 – Team Motoworks / Can-Am® DS 450™ pilot Josh Frederick narrowly missed taking the WORCS round-one and was determined to make up for it. During the weeks between the race, Frederick trained harder and the team changed some suspension settings. It worked. Round two saw Frederick battle to the front during the race and once he had the lead, he didn't look back. Frederick won the race by almost a minute on second place; he is now tied for the points lead.
"Even though it is only round two, Team Motoworks already has a championship-battle mentality," says Jimmie O'Dell, Racing Manager for Can-Am ATVs at BRP. "Everyone is committed to giving each of the team riders a chance at championships this season; they are focused on putting the DS 450 at the top."
Fredericks teammate and fellow Pro-class rider, Dillon Zimmerman, had the class holeshot at the start and was able to power his DS 450 to fifth in the class.
The next round in the WORCS championship is March 26-27 at Lake Havasu, Arizona. For more information on Can-Am racing, the entire 2010 schedule, the 2010 contingency program and DS 450 amateur racer support program, please visit Can-Am - ATV.
Racer Quotes
“It felt good to be back on top of the podium. We were working with a new suspension set up and it worked incredibly well. I kind of paced myself until about the midway point and then I started to push it. I passed a couple of people and then caught up to the leader and I got around him." — Josh Fredrick
"It was a dead engine start and my bike fired right up and I was able to take my first Pro-class holeshot! I went out there and just rode my own race and I was able to finish... [Read More]
Valcourt, Québec, February 10, 2010 – Team Motoworks / Can-Am DS 450™ EFI ATV racer Chad Wienen is the inaugural Pro-class World MX Racing Champion after the final weekend of racing for the series. This after the Team Motoworks / Can-Am semi-truck carrying Wienen's race ATV and all the team's equipment caught fire on the way to the Anza, CA track a day before the final two rounds were set to start. After working all night Friday to prep another DS 450, the race team was ready to battle hard for the championship.
"I arrived at the scene minutes after the fire was extinguished. What I saw was devastating; thank the Lord no one was injured. To see the Motoworks team rally together like they did and overcome all the adversity thrown at them this weekend was impressive," says Jimmie O'Dell, Racing Manager for Can-Am ATVs at BRP. "This type of perseverance is of what championship teams are made. Congratulations to Chad and the entire Motoworks organization on their championship win."
The racers battled the rain and mud during the course of the doubleheader weekend. In the first moto during Saturday's Round 7 action at Cahuilla Creek MX Park, Wienen would have to settle for second overall in the tough conditions. Going into Sunday's Round 8, Wienen knew he just had to finish the motos to claim the Pro-class championship. In the first moto he was battling for the lead when a coolant line came loose, forcing him to back off a bit and finish third. The second moto saw Wienen quickly pass for the lead where he would stay until the checkered flag.
Wienen's Pro-class teammate, Jeremie Warnia, was absent for the final two rounds as he was in France racing a Motoworks-prepped DS 450 in the famous Le Touquet Beach Race on the English Channel. Warnia raced to the win during... [Read More]
