Put a new ex cam in today from bcs and starts like a dream also put the old ex. cam in the in. side. More torque little less top end. Should be great for woods.

Well that’s interesting! These hot/cold start issues have been baffling me a while, we seen a number of them pop up. I’ve come to the conclusion they are either electrical or mechanical.
The Ambient Air Pressure and Temp Sensor(AAPTS) or Coolant Temp Sensor(CTS) share some harness splices and grounds to the ECM, so there is a potential there I think we have seen in harness faults, where I believe either the signal is faulted to ground or bad pin connector(s), or bad AAPTS/CTS making the ECM go into a overheat/freeze no start fault mode preventing hot or cold starts. I think if we see both hot and cold start issues, chances are better there is an electrical fault, not to exclude the decompressor. The ticking noise seems to be indicative of a bad decompressor, all I can figure is when it is hot(the assy), or does not put as much load on the motor vs. cold as in this case above, it allows hot starts but not cold unless maybe more cranking amps from a charger are applied.
There is no fault code I can find for a bad decompressor, couple that with the harness/sensor possibilities and as we can see the fault can be real difficult to find. BUDS/engine light off should help eliminate the stock harness/sensors, no code no fault leaning more toward the decompressor.
Thanks for letting us know what the problem was, it has helped me understand this a little better. J

So, I've tried tonight to put an heat gun for 15 seconds on the decompressor and guess what : cranked like a charm!! I still had my old decompressor and spring which I took off from my other exhaust cam. I've replaced the spring, gave a little knock on the decompressor pin just to deplace it a little bit : tried 2 times at cold tonight and was cranking perfectly!! Thanks for the help!

Hey guys, I think I have the same problem. The only diference with the video is that my quad does a clicking (electrical) sound when it stops, It does not keep turning slowly. I've tried heating with a hair dryer and it cranks right up. So, I think its the decompressor, do you know where I can get just the decompressor pin, lobe and spring? I don't want to change the whole cam..
By the way, I used a 20-50 Oil in my last oil change, can this be the reason also?
