Light amperage and alternator

High ..does someone know how many amper both stock light use together on a ds 450 x 2008 ?

and how many amper does the stator produce ?

Need to ad a light for the 12 hrs endurance race and know then the stator is not the big force of the ds....and without enought power, ds will buk/die on race course...

thx

Lonestar has a low-draw LED that is brighter than HIDs that is pretty damn nice. Buddy has one on his trx that I would love to buy.

Stock head lights draw 2 X 35(70) watts, Magneto puts out 250 Watt @ 6000 rpm.

The Magneto puts out 250 watts AC @ 6,000rpm to the regulator/rectifer/stator that converts AC=> DC and regulates 14.7 +/- 5Vdc @ 4000 rpm depending on the load requirements of the systems and battery charging needs so it varies. It then sends output to a 20 amp fuse before sending to the lights and systems. I could not find total system load in amps in the tech specs or wire diagram.

The head lights draw 4 amps @ 4000 rpm so I'd think if you stick with that and not exceed it too much you'd be ok....I'm sure they left a few xtra amps head room. If your new lights are drawing too much you'll blow a 20 amp fuse or your battery will run low often(since the HLs are connected between the stator and battery), you'll know it before a race...

ya...so 'ill be fine, i'll probably gonna use an independant wiring from batt to a 10 amp fuse to the light.

When i'll be runnig, i'll put the key to '' oflight position' Like thaht, i'm gonna use quite the same amperage then stock light.

If my main light FAIL...just turn the key back to Light on position to use my stock headlight in back up...

Thx TNT

Hey fella I have just done this on my DS450 for night enduro's here in Australia. as a general rule amps = wattage/voltage
fuel injection will draw around 50 watts
fan will draw around 60watts
so that'll leave around 140watts
Its not wise to run stator at max capacity cos it'll die fast.
I run a VisionX relfex LED Light bar on the bars and 2 solstice LED units on the shock towers plus the factory 35w lights to retain low beam so as not to blind time keepers and pit crew they work awesome. Each LED draws 10watts and .7 of an amp so 60watts and 4.2 amps plus the 70watts and 5.8amps of standard lighting.
it'll run factory high beam and leds, efi and fan but its right on the limit so i chopped the factory high beam so its 170watts total high beam and 180watts total low beam. works great and is safe for the stator.

I'LL TRY AND POST SOME PICS OR A LINK
