adjust shift lever for boots?

Hi, I wasn't sure if I should post here or the on the gear forum?

Beginning of this year (2012) I bought a new 08 DS 450 X, so everything is stock and factory adjusted.

I have some fox racing boots that I usually wear with my bike. However I am having trouble getting my foot under the quad's shift lever. It's like I have to 'kneel' so I can angle my foot enough to get my foot under the peg. Does that make sense?

The shift lever peg is level with the foot rest peg.
Is there a reason the shift lever peg is in this position?
Can I remove the shift lever and put it back on 'raising' the peg so my boot fits under it?

Thanks in advance for your advice,
Aaron

I LMAO!!! Just the other day i adjusted mine after a year with the DS, it was just like yours leveled with the pegs, i could shift no problems but when i was siting on the back to get more traction i couldnt get my foot under, i just moved up one tooth and now is great. Also gets better to shift when you are standing up!
