Sand Dunes, camera question
I was trying to search online and was getting spotty information about this so I figured I'd take a shot here to get opinions...even though probably not pro photographers
I recently bought a new DSLR camera, Canon Powershot SX30IS...
I REALLY want to take it to Glamis on our family trip to get some good action shots....but I REALLY DON'T want to screw up this camera (wife will kill me). I do have a point and shoot Sony but it's not nearly as good for action shots.
Thoughts, experiences, recommendations...It doesn't have a weather body or lens and I've heard you can buy a UV protective cover for the lens but not sure that'd help!

as long as you have somewhere to put it while you ride, bring it! we have the same camera but it goes in the ranger with the wife and kids, not with me, you will want some pics of the trip, and that will get you way better photos! just dont crash if its on you!lol

I, myself, would not take a good camera to the dunes unless it sealed very well and designed to keep EVERYTHING OUT!!! I just ruined a camera last week. I knew better, I just wasn't thinking. Sand gets everywhere. The minute silica particles got behind the lens and it will have to be disassemled and blown out. If you must take your camera then double zip lock bag it. That should be alright, but only by keeping it in the bag.

Yeah I have taken cameras to the dunes, kept em in their bags but the little particles get EVERYWHERE! Like CLYDEH3 said, double bag it and even try to shoot the pictures with it on, use like a 1 gallon Zip-Lock, then put it up against the lens and focus-shoot.

Waterproof camera bags. Cheap, waterproof, and oh so floaty.
