I got another ds scheduled next week for dyno time.
ron woods, big k@n filter no box, cp 13.6 piston, and dasa mid cams. We will see how it does. Im guessing 51-52whp. Any other guesses??[/b]
I'm guessing 52…...
Well Driver I talked to Johnny at Motoworks yesterday about DYNO runs /HP/TQ and he brought something to my attention I had forgot. Big HP numbers may be good for drag racers winding out 5th, but MX's need to talk more about TQ in 2-3-4th gear, rarley 5th. We're more concerned about getting out of corners fast and hole shots, etc..He said RAGE gave the fastest quad racer in the world IMO John Natalie Jr a 46 HP DS450 motor last year with lots of tq which I find hard to believe, but Natalie did drop back a good five positions from his Honda years prior to the DS. He was racing with A LOT of injuries last year so don't know. Anyhoo, I'm taking that a 50--56 hp with a lot of low-mid torque can be a mx pro-am or a probike…that’s means lots of RPM at low speeds, over heating, motors burning, rings frying, lol …..faster than a lower revving quad. He said third gear needs a mod since it will fry with a big motor and we thought the 09 had a fast 3rd mid-high.
What are your thoughts? Who the he## runs no box anyway?

LOL Ive never had a box on any of my quads, and never have had an issue. And guess what they make the most power by far. did you happen to notice that most of dasas intakes require removal of the airbox. You just cant a big enough filter and outerwear into most factory boxes. Im not gonna get into a debate about something I know already. Running no box makes more power and is plenty safe for 99% of all riding situations. Just need a good outerwear. I dont know what the hell your talking about in 2-3-4-5 gear. When a bike makes power it makes power. Doesnt matter if its in 2nd or 4th. When people talk about bottom, mid and top they are not talking about gears. They are talking about individual areas in the rpm band. So 1-3k is bottom end. 4-7k is midrange and 7-11k is topend.
Ill be posting the graphs tomorrow night. Should be interesting to see what high compression and some mid range cams from dasa add. These are the cams dasa would recommend for killer bottom to mid range and good top end gains. So we will see if that holds true. Until tomorrow, peace.

you never told us how much power it made? did the dasa cams perform good?

We got alot of snow this week. WE put it off until it slows down. The guy lives 75miles away and on snow covered roads it was to risky. I dont blame him. Ill post the results as soon as we do it.

I recall a post that you said you dyno'd a stock air system and got no gain from a larger one like DASA is offering...last I heard you were going to contact DASA and see what they are talking about. Now you are saying no box and a bigger filter gets the most. Which one is it? I have never seen no box our YAM filter is huge w/a box, and I would be curious to see dyno results for one with one with out. I would speculate there is enough ambient air pressure box or no box and that only so much volume of air can get in at a time and a high compression piston with a decked head would respond the best.....I mean why not point a big blower fan or a turbo at the filter why your at it....lol! Power or torque has EVERYTHING to do with gears, the tranny and the sprokets are the link to the motor and wheels and determine how the torque and power gets delivered when and how to ground...all the hype about dyno results mean very little without the proper gearing and rider. I hear the DS needs a third gear mod with more power it can't handle it.
Don't know about you Driver I'm beginning to think your a double agent for DASA and Ron Woods.....lol! Hey take a photo of your dyno I'd like to see it with the next DS on it. Rob Driver works for DASA lives in Riverside, CA where they got snow this winter.....lol!
