Slip-on vs Full System and other ?'s

I read somewhere maybe on here that the slip on (motoworks) makes roughly the same HP as their full system.

I cannot really see how that is possible unless the head pipe on these machines is of really good design and has great flow charachteristics, but is it true?

Cutting the pink wire works with a slip on and filter kit, does it also work with a full system or is that when you need a programmer to set it up correctly?

I am just curious of the pink wires limitations vs having a piggyback programmer.

Anyone have any experience with doing an exhaust and intake mod cutting the pink wire then soldering it back together and using a programmer instead? Was there any noticeable difference between the wire cut and programmer with same mods?

I know it was alot of ?'s and thanks for looking

if your just going to run a slip on/full exhaust and filter kit. All u really need is to cut the pink wire. Once u decide to do alittle more work to your engine though u will def want the programmer. Until u do some actual engine work though I dont see why u would really need one because the gains would be minimal. As for the full exhaust vs slip on. Yes the head pipes are designed quite well. TNT could def go into better detail of comparing the designs though

the stock head pipe is designed well, and is very free flowing...paired with the motoworks slip on, filter and cutting the pink wire, youll be golden. however, a full system will lean the bike out too much and you will want the programmer.

i had the motoworks slip on, filter and pink wire cut, then sautered it together and got the motoworks programmer and it was pretty good, and when i upgraded to the woods full exhaust the PC3 was def needed

o hey c'mon man i wasnt even tryin to hustle the woods system lol

your best bet out there is a full exhaust that wont break the bank. honestly, their all really good. the aftermarket companies have all done well with the ds, and im really suprised how much better the ds became with a new exhaust versus a trx or yfz with a new one. as long as you got the $ to spend, im sure youll find something out there that you like.

i wish i had the rossier just to have something to comapre to. but my knowledge (and limited knowledge at that) is only based on what ive run and experienced.

so back to the topic starter, the motoworks full system yields similar results to their slip-on, where as the rossier full, and the king of them all the WOODS full system (lol), have ridiculous gains over stock AND the motoworks slip-on.

I agree ^^^ if your looking to put out some serious power go with the rossier..Or yes Woods. motoworks is gr8 but doesnt put out the power as the other 2 and they are comparable in price...Just something to think of

Thanks for the replies people. What programmer are you all running with the Rossier? Power Commander?

Also the Woods stage 1 kit more than likely comes with a preloaded map to get you close on the programmer or am I wrong in thinking this? I like the way the woods looks without the big sparky hanging out the back lol.

Again thanks for the replies.
