Dealership called. It's blown up. All the way. Bottom end at least. They want $2300 to fix it.

I said... why would it blow up? He says, "Maybe from riding it for long periods of time at high rpms. 20-30minutes. They aren't made for that, ya know." I told him I was riding with 9 other quads, 3 of which were CanAms, 2 others were ancient and poorly maintained, none of them blew up. Wtf?

The mechanic was gone for the day, so I didn't get to talk with him. I'll talk to him tomorrow and see what he has to say.

You guys have any insight? If I'm going to rebuild it, can I get stronger parts? I don't need it to be faster, just consistent and dependable.

That is a really scary thought. I picked my 08 up Jan 30 and have put on about .2 miles. I am now debating on getting an extended warranty for it! Everyone tells me that I don't need it, we can fix it if it breaks, but I don't want to put any money into it this early. Hope all goes well for u and keep us posted

I did take it to Hicklin in Grimes. Should I not have done that? Aren't they the only local Can-Am dealer? Suggestions?

I don't have any details on it just yet. I'll talk to the mechanic today to find out exactly what's broken.

$2300 Jeeeze. Even on ebay, there are new ones for that cost..... The other places I was looking at was about $450 for labor to tear it down, clean it, and put together again +parts... Let me know what you were thinking about upgrading as I might be doing the same and not sure what all parts to put in it. I don't really need more power, just something slightly more peppy and durable..

OK, let say that really strange , mine did that just like you are saying and it was the stator , the flywheel bolts broke and ruin the stator they get sock on the flywheel and the engine won’t turn. Go and get your bike back and check it yourself, mounted on your quad, the right side now don’t pay that amount of money first get your phone and call BCS, if you have to rebuilt do it right and with some power, but check your stator, flywheel bolts

The flywheel bolts were an update/recall right?

$2300?? find out if everything let loose or if you just seized the main bearings/crank.

for $2300 you could buy a left over 08 DS450, take the motor and part the rest out.
