Rotella T In the Practice Bike Cuz It gets ridden a ton and the oil chaged a ton. Rotella is great oil for that, Race Bike Gets Belray ATV Racing oil, 10-40, Probably the best oil you can get for the bike at a reasonable price.

I love Rotella in my DIESEL. Other wise stick to atv/motorcycle specific oil. If looking for something cheap try the cheaper mobil 1 motorcycle oil.

I have been using the synthetic blend brp oil, but the owners manual calls for 5-40 full synthetic. The only full synthetic the dealer has is the winter blend. I am guessing this is 5-40 but it doesnt say. I think i might try the 0-40 amsoil that sounds like a good idea since i keep blowing crankcase gaskets, maybe it wont build as much oil pressure?

I believe you are right, when I went to get oil, my dealer said the XP-S 5w40 was winter oil. She said the 10w40 would be fine, as it is summer oil. Not sure why the DS450 would say to put winter oil?...

I've had Bel-Ray Thumper 20W50 in everything Ive owned nd the internals look great. For this can-Am tho with all these dam clutch problems, whether you got the clutch upgrade or not, I'd say you gotta run the oil that keeps the engine the coolest, espically if you plan on racing it. Also like DirtDevil said, if your racin, nd you change your oil every couple races, that money your paying extra for the high dollar oil adds up to a few entry fees.

Thicker oil will help with running a little cooler. . The BRP stuff is fine if you like spending that cash on oil changes. . . AS for the Rotella, it is a good oil, and if your changing it at decent intervals, meaning every 5 hours, than this stuff is great.. Many many high calibre racers use this oil and have no problems
If You are gonna try and extend your oil life to points where the manual says, you are gonna run into trouble no matter what kind of oil. These are high performance motors, and need to be treated as such with lots of preventative maintenance.
