kal gard 10w-40 , its the best at maintaining its viscosity after long periods of racing it maintains the engine running in top shape

To answer your BRP full synthetic question, when BRP came out with the DS450 the 5w-40 was thier standard synthetic. Next year they discontinued that oil and came out with the summer and winter blends. Use the summer blend it is cheaper and works better with the clutch than the full synthetic ever did. I would personally run an atv/motorcycle oil in non-synthetic and change it often. I prefer clean mineral oil over dirty synthetic.

just curious, what kind of oil would be best for me? i ride my ds450 most days out of the year around town, and rabbit hunt with it. i dont race it, or even drive it hard much.
i use Valvoline 20w-50 in my RX-7, would that be okay for my 450? if not i think the only other good oils i can get are valvoline (mineral and synthetic) and belrays. i cant afford to order, or go out of town, every time i need some oil

I probably wouldn't use it. That is a car oil and doesn't work that well in the wet clutch on quads. The friction modifiers in car oil causes the issue. I would stick with running either four wheeler/dirtbike oil or something like Rotella (which is a diesel oil).

O.K.
oil is all about the certification ....
Shell Rotttella is a GREAT oil for Diesel motors, The soot preventers keep the oil clean
.. great if your oil cycle is less than 5 hours . which is affordable!
compared to BRP oil that is $12.00 per quart ..... Rottella is @ $12.00 per Gallon
we change oil every practice and race week ... @ 2 hours
oil is cheap compared to engine parts , if you see metal in the oil .... it is time to tear it down and see why .... instead of waiting until parts come out of the side of the case or block
