CHECK ENGINE LIGHT? need help

ok my 09' ds450x xc's check engine light came on today, i didn't know why, but it ran fine for a minute (i was on the back side of my buddies flat track), anyway after a minute it ran like crap and then wouldn't stay on... not even to load into my truck.

I've ridden it in mojave desert, full out and never had problems...

what can I do? what do i do? does anyone know what could have happened? I don't think it overheated..but who knows

I bought the bike used and it supposedly has the can-am race ecu, also it has the motoworks slip on, bcs louver kit, bcs inline cooler, two smaller inline coolers, an inline temp guage, and a motoworks dual fan setup....

The check engine light comes on if ANYTHING goes wrong.... low voltage, fuel codes, engine codes. there is a way to get the code out of the ecm, but i let my engine builder borrow my service manual, so i cannot give you that procedure right now.
i just take mine to the dealer and hook it up to the laptop... it gives you more info.

yea i doubt your overheating with that set-up lol im leaning towards the battery also, maybe a bad relay or something.....i wonder how much power the fans are pulling. are they on an auxiliary switch? on one of my old bikes i had aux fans and left em on for about 5 mins after every ride to help cool it down and after a while drained the battery enough to were it wouldnt start....

OK well I know my battery is low or almost dead, I've had to charge it like 3 times lately, Im just going to buy a new one.

that would be really awesome If you could let me know what that sequence is to take the light off or whatever!

thanks.

OH YA, about the aux fan, Its not on a switch. as soon as the key is on the fans go on...I don't like it, but thats how I bought it, and don't know electrical very well.

JUST CURIOUS but are there any batteries with more cranking amps than the one that comes stock????

Depends on if it's a minor or major fault, a minor fault like a low battery will cause the light to stay on once the code in the ECU is corrected it may automatically reset light once key is turned off and ECM allowed to shut off then turned back on. If it's major light flashes same thing once fixed the light goes out with a key/ECM on/off cycle, code stays in ECU as history and should be cleared but not necessay to shut off the light from what I gather.

We've had the light stay on from battery issues then go out when fixed acts wierd sometimes. When the battery is less than like 80% charged it turns the light on....U might check all your battery and solinoid connections, make sure they are clean, banking soda and di-electric grease.

Yeah we had this prob before a race last week after the quad sat for 3 -weeks, we charge the battery to 100% disconected all the terminals since it would not shut off so I told him to clean everything back there at the battery, well FINALLY it went off and stayed off reset itself problem solved..this is the second time it happened and it was the battery. We have a back up battery sometimes swapping gets it off, it's just weird!

Only reason we need the battery is to get the fuel pump pressure up I don't like batteries/solenoids, etc and would replace it with a kick start if I could.
