header opinion.
hey guys,
i have the motoworks full system.and i was thinking about wrapping it in exhaust tape.but wont that actually make it run hotter because heat cant get out?i dnt understand the theory.maybe someone can teach me whats up

wrapping your header will help with engine temps, fuel temps, coolent temps. SO its a good idea

ok well, my theory is not sound by any means, it just popped in my head..
I'm guessing the reason heat wrap on your header will be good is that it give a larger surface area than your header pipe, which give the heat a greater area to dissapate over. Also it keeps the heat away from your coolant tank which sits right above the header.
something else I remember hearing from a good friend of mine who builds 720+ hp corvettes, is that its better when your exhaust is hot, it flows faster or something... IDK

well the exhaust gases will flow faster taking the path of least resistance! The holding of the heat will be good to keep off the tank and hoses as well!

also,how thick does it need to be?is it just aluminum tape?i have aton of of tht down stairs from my dad...

I think it looks more like rope... not aluminum tape.

it'll hold moisture and cause corrosion also. We used to use it only as a heat shield to protect surrounding equipment ie electrical gear hoses doesnt directly improve performance
