Forcing clutch failure?

So heres the story...

I bought my 08 450 a few short months ago and have since found out the stock cluch is notorius for taking a crap. I have read numerous posts about talking and hounding the dealer to get it fixed but I'm getting the cold shoulder from them. They stick with the story that if it aint broke they are not fixing it under warranty. In all I will have to pay out of pocket for labor and materials if I want it fixed.

Since there was no actual recall on the clutch (only a service bulletin) it seams I'm doomed to be seriously irritated down the road once my clutch takes a crap and I'm out of warranty in January of 2011.

So my question is... Is it possible to force a clutch failure without damaging other components? And if so, what are the best ways (lol)?

I know this sounds completely rediculous but I'm looking at all options at this point to get it fixed correctly and under warranty. I dont want the issue down the road after my warranty is up.

Any other ideas would be of great help also!

Just tell the dealer the clutch is acting up after riding for 20 minutes. They rarely "test" ride them, and more then likely they know about the bulletin and will do the work without much question (I had mine replaced after my first ride).

remove the clutch .... take the fiber plates, put a sheet of 600 grit onto a sheet of glass
lay the plate flat on top of the sandpaper apply a thin coat of oil , move the plate flat in a figure 8 route on the sandpaper. about 10 figure 8's
this will reduce the amount of friction material on the disks, this also works for a clutch that slips on synthetic oil , it will "chirp" every time !

All good input guys, thanks for the info. I think I'm gonna continue riding for the next few months and take back to the dealer in November or so and make up a story. I figure if I tell them something is wrong they will have to take it apart and look at it. At that point they will know the BRP has the service bulletin out and they will fix it none the less.

Thanks for the info!

A dozen or so third-gear launches on pavement should do just fine.

Just had my DS out today and on giving a buddy a push with my quad the clutch sounded horrible, groaning etc. I am glad I ordered a BCS basket and got the drilling in the cover to cure this because it sounds like the whole thing is about to blow.
