How to flush your cooling system?
Hey guys, I looked around on the net and I couldn't find a real definitive answer to my question. So how do you COMPLETELY flush you cooling system? I am going to run Engine Ice in my bike and I need to know exactly how to flush the system. I just ordered the Engine Ice along with a stainlees steel oil filter from Scott's Performance and I should be getting it in a week or two.
P.s. I am curently running the stock coolant
Thanks!

I flushed with distilled water. Basically drained, put everything together, filled with distilled water, drained, repeat till water ran clear. Blew air through it and filled with Engine Ice.

Did you start the bike and let it idle to let the water run through the whole system, then drain it?

No. I know the book says to do that but I don't follow directions well. Plus my quad was never run with the dealer fluids in it. My boy just dumped his stock coolant and threw EI in and ran.

i always flush my rad with distilled water and a little bit of white vinager... fill it up.. run it let it run through a heat cycle.. dump.. then fill again with just distilled water.. run a heat cycle and dump.. then fill up with engine ice.. i have done this with 4 quads and no issues.. the vinager breaks down any corrosion in the rad.. so if its new.. you may not have to...but i did anyways

Is a heat cycle idling or reving? How long is a heat cycle? does the engine have to reach a certain temp, If so about how hot (celsius/fahrenheit)? is there a certain ratio distilled water to vinegar?
Sorry for all the questions, I just don't want to screw anything up
Thanks!

Did you end up already flushing your engine? I'm thinking about switching to engine ice as well. I know the thermostat should open at around 75 degrees, to answer your heat cycle question.
Also, how do you get to the thermostat? The shop manual says you have to remove a hose clamp?

If you drain at the water pump you will get the radiator and reserve tank. Drain and fill with distilled water. Like stated before repeat until only water comes out then drain out as completely as you can, and fill with Engine Ice. Do you have the manual? It states where to drain in there.
