Electric problem

Hello my friend have a ds 450 08 and have a electric problem. He has full ground at the switch key but the 3 others line have nothing, no electric. This problem came when he change his battery for a new one.

Do you have a idea?

Thank you, sorry for my English i'm québécois!

Have you checked fuses yet? Next would be swap out relays.

The relays (three small grey cubes) in the front of the quad are your next target switch one with the other and see if anything happens.

Just replace them. They are known to go bad quickly and you don't need to remove plastics to replace them. I can't remember if the BRP relays have the schematic on them. If you want to troubleshoot you'll have to remove plastics and probe for power and ground from the bottom of the connector.

I would have thought by troubleshooting a relay you would test continuity thru the coil in the relay by putting a meter on it..

if you probe for pwr an ground on the bottom half of the connector then you're only troubleshooting the wiring harness right?

No. If you follow the schematic and leave relay installed. You will find out if 12 volts is leaving the relay. You have power going in, ground going in, then switch power going in. So now the fourth wire is the power going out to function.

Like stated before it is just easier to replace the relays and move on.

the stock relays last less than 50hrs. at $6-$10 a piece, its better to just replace them. most autoparts stores offer warrenties on them too, i spent $1 extra on each one and got a lifetime warrenty on them. so if/when they go out, just take em in w/ the receipt and theyll replace it!

The relays are for three circuits. When looking at the quad from left to right: cooling fan, main relay and fuel pump relay. So if you switch the main relay with the cooling fan relay and you can start the quad you found your bad relay.
