I just finished porting a TRX 450R head for a customer. Build is including: JE 13.5 to 1 piston, Ported head w/CRF Cam and Stainless valves, Carillo "Knife Rod", OEM Crank webs-trued, welded and balanced, Vortex CDI and FMF 4.1 Exhaust with Megabomb Ti header and my own carb mods.

It needed a little bit of Lab-metal resin in the intake, (Figured that out after these pics were taken, also shortened the valve guides and tapered them.) but overall, I am very pleased with the way the head turned out. 111% OEM Velocities on intake side and on the exhaust side we got a reading of almost 109% of OEM flow numbers. The flow bench won't calibrate CFM for a head this small, since we are using a homemade mount plate, but the port velocities are direct comparisons from the unaltered OEM profile. I know I got an increase in flow with this port because the in/Hg were lower at every point during the test after the porting was completed. For concentricity, I flowed the head after we cut the .015 off the deckface, but before I ported it. Thanks to my friend, JJ for the help on the flow bench.

Good Job! You have more patience than I. When are you going to try a DS head?

The biggest gains came from perfectly blending the seat area and taking the "hump" out of the intake port roof.

This quad did a stout number on the dyno last week. 56 rwhp on the dyno at the local dealership. Dyno tires and VP U-4.4 Fuel. We still have a bit of a lean issue on the bottom end that I think we are gonna have to fix with a leak jet mod. Other than that, very fast and very rideable.
