Chain too Long

Just purchased a new 520 x 102 Primary Drive O-Ring chain, Primary Drive 42 tooth steel sprocket, and stock tooth count Primary Drive front sprocket.

Anyways, upon assembly, I'm finding the chain is at least 4 links too long. I have an essentially stock 08 X. Holding up he stock take-off next to it reveals the new one is much longer. I even counted the links to make sure on the new chain. It is 102 with the master link. Sprockets all matched the stock take-offs and chain adjust is in a middle position.

Any reason it would be too long?
