13:1 is a middle of the road piston imo
Bumping the compression up will help your power from the bottom to the top. Unlike any other modification (cams, pipes, porting..)

For the minimum price of gaskets and time, to have peace of mind. I think a tear down is certainly worth it. At this time you can also check if any thing else is out of spec like valve lash.

12.5:1 is a safe pump gas piston

14:1 is a race gas only compression

Go with a quality brand such as JE

We would certainly like to talk with you about getting a piston to you if you can spare some time.

do you think 13:1 would be good with pump gas and a programer?

Unless you got the early production cylinder with the .2mm smaller bore than any other DS, only piston you can get is the BRP one at $280. But taking .2mm out of the cylinder would be easy

I put J&E's, CP's , BRP's ,and even wiseco's; about 5 custom casts and 3 that were modded in the stock cyl ( of course they were all mic'd first )
I suggest having the cyl micrometered and checked , and order the correct piston for the bore you have , but the cylinders that I buy from BRP are all the same size after nickle treating ( or whatever you use to treat yours with ( He...He...Hee)

If you look on the parts page for Can Am they have two different cylinders and two different pistons listed for 2008, we micrometered the piston and was like how did the piston shrink .2mm cause all we found were the 97mm then went on the parts page and seen the 96.XXX one

I believe that they were non coated cylinders add .1 m to each side and you have it dead on
some builders do not like nickel chromium etc... ck out the link

Didn't even see that link sorry! And yeah it makes sense! He was talking about if we wanted too he could take it to some shop that had a diamond bore to cut out the coating, makes sense now!

Whenever the day comes to build a DS or anything to max HP but still have the most life out of it, I would use that Microblue, seems legit.

Im a little confused, so you guys are telling me i can only get a stock piston for my quad and the only way to change that is to get something done to my head? Not really trying to get anything done to the head or anything so whats my best option? not replace it or just get a new stock one? thankss
