how expensive to replace crankshaft bearing?

I'm in the process of getting a engine built, if I get the most extreme power plant I'm being told about 8 hours of hard racing on crankshaft bearings. How hard to replace, or how costly to have it done. Parts labor etc. Trying to plan ahead and make the best choice.

a bit of money. are you doing the work yourself ? i would replace the crank bearings with KTM crank bearings. you will have to split the cases so it could get pricey if you pay someone. off the top of my head im going to say 400-500

if you do it yourslef it is cheap. If you pay someone to do it you will be looking at like 500 bucks in labor at least

Are you talking the big end rod bearing or the crank main bearings? The main bearings aren`t that hard to change, it`s just a mather of having to take the motor out and stripping it down to nothing to open up the case. Should be no more then 10h of labour by a good mechanic.
Then what ever the bearings cost from the dealer.

If your talking the big end rod bearing, well you have basicly the same amount of labour plus getting the crank rebuilt, or just replaced.

8h sounds like very little time.

Talking with motoworks, when they started out they where eating cranks every 10h, but now they are up to 60h+ And they make more power then most builders...unless you are going with more cc`s.

To be honest I'm not sure which one. I'll find out. As far as doing my own work....not sure, never gone that far. Kinda scared.

To get to crank bearing you got to split cases which mean automatic like $400+ if your paying someone to do it..

Ugh. Anything to prolong this in a full blown race motor.

Some form of oil cooler to allow motor to hold more... Frequent oil changes as you can.. All I know to make a motor last,..
