650 motor in a 450 frame?
i recently picked up a ds450 rolling chassis, everything but the motor and electronics are there. Has anyone ever jammed a ds650 motor into one of these? or should i just part the thing out? thanks

the ds650 motor is under powered. id take this as the perfect oppurtunity to cram a big street motor in there. a couple cool ideas would be a xr or klr 650 motor, triple cyl kz750...or find a wrecked r6/1 or gixxer motor...swaps are tough to get perfect, but youd have something super cool...but prob only for draggin since itd be soooo heavy and unbalanced

ds650 underpowered lol? i think the highest horsepower(and fastest in 300ft) single cylinder atv based motor out there is a 870cc ds650. you can stick 3 grand into a ds650 motor keep it stock bore and stroke and make over 70hp no problem, and then spray a huge shot of N02 on top of it, they are strong as hell.

A hybrid with these frames will be so hard. The frame was built around the motor, and there are no welds, all aluminum, so it would be tough to make new parts for the frame to fit around the new motor.

I'd take the ds650 motor over the 450 anyday... Reliable, that's a word thts important with off road racing... And torque
I've had my ds650x for almost 5years now, and it literally has had on problem, water pump seal. Every Wednesday/Thursday for a year we would ride about 120miles per day to keep in shape and practiced for desert races, and on weekends we'd go to ocotillo wells and ride.
I love my ds450x xc, But seriously, clutch, frame, engine case?
