new 09ds 450x mx

I just bought a new 09 ds450x mx and was wonderin if anybody had any little things i should do to it rite away. i'm getting a custom exhaust built and using a dynojet power commander. I'm going to be using twin air air filters, race ecm radiator guard and all the other stuff u can get in the race kit. i also plan on putting fox floats on the front with the stock arms. any input would be appreciated.

I have two of the 08's converted to mx and if you really want to improve the bike right away there are two critical things I would do (and have done to mine) and one nice thing I would do. First, replace the clutch basket with a Hinson or BCS basket right now. The one you have will fail, it is just a question of when and how much internal damage it will do when it does fail. Trust me as I can relate to this first hand. Second, if you have the money to replace shocks, go after the rear one first. It is very hard to tame and almost impossible to set the ride height. I replaced our race bike's rear shock with a Fox Podium and have been very happy with the results. And finally, get a Precision stabilizer. Those things make the bike a hoot to ride, especially in the dunes and on the mx track. Just my .02 cents worth. Hopefully this is helpful.

thanks i was trying to look for that BCS basket and couldnt find it i found the hinson one tho. and i prolly would get the rear shock too since the dealer that is helping me out is now guna be a fox dealer. i dont know if u can just get a better deal if you get sponsored by them or if u get them at cost.

BCS's basket is new and isn't listed on their web site just yet. Give them a call and they can give you all the details about their basket. I believe they are charging about $260 for theirs and you can bolt it together in your garage. The Hinson basket costs $249 and you'll need to ship your drive gear to then to get it connected to the new basket, and you get to pay the shipping.

Sponsorship is the cheapest method for getting the Podium shock, but having a dealer sell it to you at cost ain't a bad deal either.
