i hate to brag (ok thats a lie lol) but i REALLY like my set-up, and im a sand addict! lol...
ron woods full exhaust
exhaust cam mod
PC3
dyno tune
39 tooth rear sprocket
revalved shocks
steering stabilizer
50" arms
blah blah blah...jsut realized its all in my sig lol
it depends on what kind of sand riding you do: hill shooting or duning?
if your duning, wider is better. straight line racing, then long and narrow. id def get a programmer and a dyno tune, the exhaust cam and depending on your hp gains id get a smaller rear sprocket. i dune and race probably 50/50, and with all the power gains i got, i needed a smaller rear sprocket to really use all the gears and get a ridiculous top end speed.

For rear tires I love my ITP Sand Stars. I've tried a couple of different tires and the ITPs are by far the best for all around riding anywhere from hill shooting, to jumping, to drag racing.

sand stars a great, the skat trak haulers are great for hill shooting, but honestly, knobbies are my fave in the sand. quadracer12 turned me into a believer. superior roosts with knobbies lol and if their fresh they can still side hill pretty darn good and dragging (once they get traction) they are pretty good too

You have the motor down, but everything else It all depends on where you ride dunes at.
Here in Oregon you want to start with a set of 20x10x8 Scat-Trac Extremes(they are Haulers with more rubber to last longer) for rear tires. Front tires are personal preference on how much you want to slide, and I like to turn so I got the Sand Star fronts with double ridges.
After that, the next largest mod is a new extended swingarm. I just picked up my 6 over, and it is the PERFECT length! Any longer and it would start being more of a drag bike and have troubles turning in the tree shots, but be even more stable. Any shorter the 6" over and it would flip allot more roosting up dunes. It is 1000000% more stable now and SO MUCH better. I dont know if I would dune without it honestly. The difference in how the bike is more stable after is amazing.
I will let my little sister ride it now as before it would stand up on the back tires every time you went up a dune unless you had your weight over the front bars. If I had my girlfriend on the back with me the bike would flip easily. I had to stand and lean forwards everywhere we went and watch the throttle. Now we can both sit down, hit the largest dunes we can find full throttle and just have fun not worrying about crashing.
You can try to change sprockets. I geared down 10% under stock to compensate for my 22" tires. I am going to get the 20" Extremes with 8" rims next summer and put my stock sprockets back on.

Do you have any problems getting up the big hills w/out paddles?

I have followed a bunch of people in the dunes and have never had a problem keeping up with anybody. I have climbed almost every dune in glamis without a problem, not saying i was the fastest but could still easily climb it. I have way more fun sliding my back end around with knobbies than beating people in a strait line with paddles. I used to ride with paddles until I discovered how much better it is with a good set of knobbies. Sadly I still ride on the stock tires and do just fine, but on my other bikes I have tried a few different sets in the sand and the Razr or Razr 2 are hard to beat. Just my $.02
