Calling All Californians!
So for President's Day, we are heading down to Imperial Sand Dunes again this year. My oldest son and I will be tenting it, so I'm wondering how cold it gets at night...will we make it?
Also, how far of a ride is it to Glamis?

yes, going to the southern end...we come in where the imperial sand dunes signs are. I think it is off the interstate coming from Yuma...

yep thats I-8, if you take the dirt road along the train tracks you can take that up to glamis, you wont have enough gas in your quad to make it there and back in the sand, just east of the tracks is a turnoff for ogilby road, it is paved and taking that north will take you to hwy 78, you will end up about 11 miles east of glamis

You have to go to the Northern part of the dunes, that is where all the good stuff is. Huge 5th gear bowls, sweet side hills, and everything in between. Seriously, I do not consider it a glamis trip until you have ridden the dunes near osborn lookout

well, the gorup that I go with always camp at Imperial, and I wasn't too impressed w/the dunes there anyways...just LOVE riding at Sea Level and the crazy power jump from 5000 ft here in Utah!
So I can take a 20 minute drive (load the bikes onthe trailer again) and be up to the good stuff fairly quick???

ugh if i have to go riding in glamis to show you were all the good stuff is i guess ill try and go haha
dude screw the south end gordens well sucks. go off the 78 just east of brawley south down glamis road pass the rangers station labeled cahuilla . stay just off of gecko loop (its about a mile down glamis road to your left) that is were the real glamis is. best dunes in the country without a doubt. huge 300ft bowls, 5th gear like stated above....i will try and get quadracer12 to come out too i know we have both been itching to go and dont think we can wait until easter.
we actually will be in ocotillo wells that weekend on the 18th. what days are you going?
