2008 or 2009 DS450 - Which Should I Buy?
Hello all, I don't have a DS450 ...... yet.
I got a semi-green light from my wife, I've found quite a few Can-Am Dealers have 2008's for about $4,000 another dealer I called didn't have any 2008's, but has 2009's for just under $4,800 OTD.
So my question is:
Which would you buy / should I buy?
2008 = $4,000
2009 = $4,800
Also note, $4,000 was really the top-end of my allowed budget.
So please give me all your thoughts, pros and cons and why, if I go with the 2009, I'm going to need something to back-up my budget blowing proposal.
I don't think I need/want an "X" I don't plan on racing it or anything, I race the 2-wheels (I'm a MX'er), I just want it to mess around on my parents farm, local lake in the winter and a few trail rides.
Thanks in advance!
Ed

As long as you get all the recalls, and get them to do the clutch update get the 08. If they won't do the clutch get the 09.

Ya. AS long as all the updates are done your good to go... If you do end up with an 09, befor you buy, look under the right side of the engine at the number right by the foot peg and make sure the number is higher than M6748166.
If the number is not higher than this than the clutch work will still need to be done.

OK, so the RED one is "sick" looking, got it, I'm looking a little deeper at my purchase. I don't want to drop 4+ large and have problems ...... (I'd probably buy a purple one if I knew it would not have problems)
I've heard a bit about some cases cracking/breaking!? What's that all about!?
The dealer I've been talking to is looking into the clutch update and engine serial number for me today.
My plan is not to spend 4 grand, have major problems and have to drop another wad of money getting it fixed, if that was the plan I'd take my chances and buy a used whatever 450 for $2,500 and have cash for repairs if needed.
Thanks,
Ed

The cases should be fixed by your dealer if they eventually crack. Even if they do crack, a little jb weld fixes the problem. My race bike from this year had a crack, and I couldn't get it fixed in time. I jb welded it, and it still hasn't cracked after 4 races.
