Unhappy Broken Frame

Me and my friend got 2 new 09 ds450mx in april and may. we both broke the frames on them<the front part by the rad> canam does not what to pay for the frame, i think they should have a recall cause there were some other people i was talking to that broke there frame in the same spot.

So if you broke your frame tell me. i what to see how many are broken and make them have a recall on them.

Cody

If it is the part that In thinking it is, Can am has a support bracket that was part of the racer Kit... There are alot of aftermarket braces to help strengthen that area... I know it sucks breaking something but you can just order that single part for the frame instead of having to buy a whole new frame. Look into it on babbits or something, I bet its pretty cheap replacement,

is it the part near the a arm bracket? BCS has the lower frame supports if thats what it is, if not, like xrider said, there are alot of aftermarket companies that make other supports, and thats also the beauty of the ALTEC frame, that you can just order that one part, and im sure in the big scheme of things its not going to be that expensive. afterwards, you can get a gusset kit so it doesnt happen again...

how did it break? where you racing or just riding it around?

Man if I could find frame parts I would be buying them. There is only a very few pieces you can buy and not the ones you need. I need the two front pieces that go around the radiator an d you can't buy them.

I have heard of the frames breaking towards the front as well. Mine broke on the big cast piece near the footpegs. I looked into it and you cant just replace pieces, you have to buy the whole frame.

I dont think can-am is very good at fixing these issues. I would like to see them come out with a stronger frame. Im sure the pros are having the same problems, you would think that they would trickle down from the pros and we'd be able to get better parts.

How did that happen? I have only heard of one other frame breaking there, and that was from getting t-boned.

WE have the team x frame support kit , and we broke both of them in the same race. BUt we still won ! Can am will not sell these pieces individually. I took mine off, welded them and reinstalled with some extra aluminum around them.
It turned out that the rivets were working loose which allowed everything to move which caused the frame to fail.

i lucked out and bought a used frame in good shape for 550 off of ebay. I think i will go through the old one and find all the weak spots and have them reinforced. I all ready have the racer kit but im sure there are more weak spots. I can't really say anything bad about the frame though. a buddy of mine broke his Hondas frame worse, in the same race (Broome-Tioga)
