Oil and filter? help
So its time for my oil change... Is it really necessary to run brp brand oil every time?? that junk is expensive!
and also, im paying about $18 a piece for oil filters... can i buy them bulk from anywhere and get them cheaper?? or is 18 bucks pretty much the standard.

BELRAY atv racing oil is all i use. works good. about $10 a liter i think i just buy it by the case for $130. As for filters. i think thats the average price. I just got abunch of them on my parts account.

Read the back of your BRP oil. It should have a circle with some specs in it IE: API SJ, JASO MA2 You must buy an oil that meets or exceeds BRP's oil grades. That is the standard by which oils are sold. If you use an oil that exceeds the BRP oil you will be ok. I use REPSOL 4T, 10W40, ANd Castrol ACTEVO X-TRA 4T 10 W 40. I do not want to become an oil commercial. AS long as the grade stays the same or better ... you will be fine.
The filters can be ordered in bulk from several suppliers, I buy mine from Cycle Gear with my Racer discount, I think that they cost @ $6.00 each. We sometimes buy the $50.00 re-useeable oil screens but i prefer to change the filters myself every other race/practice.

i run 20w50 gt1 kendall in race quad 5$ a quart
we change oil often cheap insurance
on the play quad rotella t 5w40 big cost difference

Parker Yamaha has fitlers for $10 Oil Filter DS450 Oil FIlter At Parker Yamaha Com, that is where I get mine. I run amsoil with no problems so far.

Scotts Stainless steel oil filter
$60 and will outlast the quad, blow it off w some compressed air and reuse it, it will pay for itself after 6 oil changes.
I use mobil 1 synthetic motorcycle oil, no issues and no clutch squeel w the 09 update and hinson basket.
