TNT need your input

Im a technician and i built an 09 ds450 in jan.
this thing runs awesome, took awhile to tune with no dyno in the area but thats besides the point.
This is the 1st and only can-am ever work on and im tuned more to street.
So the can-am is a little new as far as electrical.
Anyway i searched for intermittent throttle problems and saw you know what yer talking about.
this bike has a problem when its ran awhile say full day of racing.
it starts acting funny. he ran a moto and had no problem
in the second moto 3rd lap it started messing up
he said hed give it 1/4 throttle and it ran like full throttle and after passing 1/4 cut out and acted stupid. he pulled off turned it off went a watched the rest say 45 min to and hour later started it same problem.
ive got the bike in my shop and i cant get it to mess up. of course i dont ride one everyweek so i get 30 to 45 mins and im gassed
I figured tps but im not gona throw parts at it and i cant get it to recreate so there no checkin voltages or resistance i might order ecm connector tool
but i really think it could be the fuel pump relay
ok let me know what yall think

I know you asked for TNT, but I thought I could give you something to look for while you were waiting.

I would check ciol's, coil wires, and spark plug wires. These are all known to have problems, espesially if they are jumped and raced in rough conditions.

Did not mean to step on any toes, just helping while waiting on TNT

I would ck the MAP( manifold air pressure) sensor as well as the TPS
Is the CK engine light on?
were there any codes in the computer?
What is the static voltage on the batt?
what is the voltage when running?
have you had anything happen to the quad lately?( clutch gernade ? )
I would test/suspect the stator/ trigger as well as the coils .

yea, check all your basic inputs!!!
but I'm guessing engine coolant temp sensor!

“he said hed give it 1/4 throttle and it ran like full throttle and after passing 1/4 cut out and acted stupid”

This is a recurring intermittent problem, in my mind we can rule out systems that show to be working fine until this happens(ie: sensor‘s, battery, stator, coils, etc). Somehow there is a surge in power(AFR) at ¼ throttle and it cuts out after. If it’s always at the same throttle location I’d think that the ECM is having difficulty calculating fuel at those position(s) . I’d check the calibration of the TPS and CPS, but doubt it since you’d see the issue at more throttle positions below 1/4. Same with sensor inputs since they stop working all together not at a certain frequencies. I don’t know if you are running a fuel controller map but it may have an issue ¼+, other than that I’m guessing it’s the ECM going out. If you can get a hold of one swap it out and see.

Before you determine that check all connections and main grounds for loose dirt, and the line from the ECM to the main relay(OR/BU) and from the fuel pump relay to the injector(VI/BU) for shorts altho doubt it. Slight chance the main/fuel relay’s points are not closing or the coils not energizing at high voltages beyond ¼ voltage not delivering fuel, so swap.

Sorry hope that helps these situations are always hard and can be a result of multiple faults, BUDs can be your best friend in these cases. If not BRP sells a ECM adapter the manual takes you through doing voltage and continuity checks at the ECM like BUDS, you can check the function of the ECM, sensor’s, too.

Good luck!

and yes i do have pc5
its just aggrivating i cant get it to recreate while its at my shop but i might go to a race and see what happens
