Depends on the track and your skill level
we run 13 front and 36.37.38.39.41.42.43 rear depending on conditions
on super large tracks , we may go 14, 41, or 42 but usually stay w/ 13

I tried 14 39 and it felt like it dogged. Went back to 14 42 and it pulls hard!

I quite like the 14/39 stock gearing the the xmx comes with on the 18" rears. May look at going to 13/39 though.

13/39 stock w/ 18 " tires 13/41 short track
WE currently run 13/36 or 37 at short tracks ..... But that is our NASTY motor!
stock or slightly modified 13/39 41 or 42 ... you need the acceleration out of the turn ....dont be afraid of 4th and 5th gear
When you think "it is boggin out of the turn" you are beating the stopwatch !Try it !

oh yea kinda forgot that rear tire size has a HUGE factor on speed/acceleration. 18s vs 20s and youll get higher top speed but loose acceleration with a taller tire, and vice versa for a smaller tire.

hcomras I thought you were scary fast with 14/39? I am getting my RW tomorrow and want to order a 39 rear, or should I stay with 42?

Besides where do you find your sprockets? Nowhere online I can't find em and dealer is a bunch of well for lack of better words idiots.
