Racer Support ECM

Is the upgraded ECM that comes with Motoworks exhaust "plug and play" or is there required reprogramming after install with the exhaust?
I get conflicting answers from my dealer when I ask them.

Are you talking about the Race ECU that is part of the Stage 1 kit along with the SR4 slip on?

If so, I was told by Simon at the head of BRP's race department that it is plug and play. You can have it swapped at a dealer and they can transfer your VIN, vehicle history and TPS info from the stock ECU using their BUDDS software however it is not necessary. Simon told me the TPS info can be properly set into the new Race ECU buy cycling your ignition completely on and then off 5 times before starting the quad for the first time after installing the Race ECU (you have to wait for the 30 second time delay each cycle).

Remember to cut the pink wire and remove the air box lid.

You will have to return it to the dealer to have them hook the ECU up to BUDDS system to retrieve info from the stock set up. After that you just put on the slip on, cut the pink wire, and remove the airbox lid, and you are ready to go.

Welcome to more conflicting answers. LOL

I do not know the correct answer, but fwiw I would listen to the dealer and let them handle it.

I know ecu's on large equipment they at least need the correct ser # in them. But I also know quads are different.

Thanks guys, yeah they told me I gotta leave the old one with them. What you say JimmyJames makes perfect sense to me. I can't wait to get this stuff on it so I can open it up. I've spent all weekend "breaking" it in and man what a ride! Of course coming up from an old 400ex anything is better I guess.
Thanks again

I have a 2011 brand new with the stage 1 kit. I have done extensive research on the ECU. The only thing that is vital to the machines operation is the TPS. All the information the deanship transfers is garbage. I would never let a dealer strip my machine of plastics or any for that matter. Nothing will be done perfect if they do it. Trust me they are plug and play, I put 2 of them in two 2011 450s.

By the way there is no pink wire to cut on 2011

What do you do for the TPS to calibrate with the race ECU installed?

I followed JimmyJames advice above and have had no problems. Switched it out, added new exhaust, cycled ignition and poof all kind of power now!

Can someone explain "Cycling you ignition" in a bit more detail?
