Items to look for in post-race teardown.
I know that we started this topic in the Cam Swap thread. But Cook78LTR and CanamracerDad, if you guys have any items that are frequently replaced, I'd like to know so I can source extra if needed. Currently, with our GNCC and MX bikes we are tearing down every race (plastics, wheels off, fuel drained, all fluids, cables, Pivots etc.) with a top end every 12-16 hours and a complete split and overhaul once halfway thru a season. We are running a CT Racing 300cc stroker kit in these Raptor 250s that makes phenomenal power, but requires frequent "babysitting". We change our clutch fibers and steels according to the wear adjusters/stack height and I check everything against a 1/2" plate glass or milled stone for warpage.
Our 450 KTM's get torn down every XC race, and our 505SX gets a going over after every other MX race if the conditions are not muddy, in much the same manner. But seeing as the motors are mostly OEM right now, our top end intervals are much longer.
I have the ability to to machine bushings and pivots from a variety of materials and would be happy to help you guys out of you wish to develop replacement parts, if needed. UHMW plastic, oil-preg bronze, 6061, 2024, 7075 aluminum, stainless etc.
