Looking for info between 08-12 DS's

Hey guys I am new here and I am trying to find solid answers on what changes were made between the 2008-2012 models. I also would like to know what issues the different years had.

I am trying to figure out whats the best bang for the buck between the years.

I raced WORCS, MX and some local desert races between 2003-2005 and am looking to get back into racing but I want to make and educated decision before I buy.

Pretty diverse riding agenda. Id go for a xmx model but get 20" rears when u do ur cross country desert shenanigans. 08 had problems that got all fixed by end of 09/early '10. Unchanged since 2010 except for a battery box and no pink wire after 2011. Early ds's had clutch issues, flywheel probs, bad motor mounts, etc that BRP fixed through service bulletins and recalls.

Just got a 2011 xmx and glad I did. Not too wide for most trails just needs bigger back tires. Every bug has been worked out by now. Lots of small differences that I keep seeing over my old 08. Find a good deal and one and never look back. Only thing you'll have to do is buy a pipe and fmi.

the 2011 addressed 85% of the 08 issues in production , including the battery box
the 2011 costs a few dollars more , but IMO it is a worthy investment

I didn't know this but my 2011 X XC came with an aluminum swing arm skid plate, not a plastic one. It's still getting replaced by sprocket and rotor guards, but it had held up rather well.
