Fan Relay

Well my stock fan relay finally died today and thought, no problem, popped in the spare I got at NAPA a while back and after about 15 minutes of riding it went too!? Fuse is good and I tried the jumper wire test and fan comes on, so I know it's the relay. What are the odds that I got a bad relay from NAPA? Am I wrong in thinking that if there is a short somewhere that with the jumper wire test I would then blow the fan fuse? I'm confused and aggravated!

Probally a weak relay. Seen it before. If there was a short and you used a jumper the fuse would blow, jumper would get hot, or smoke would of shown you where the short was.

if you have an autozone the ones they have there are lifetime warranty, i take all 3 of mine out every 6 months and swap them for new ones whether they are bad or not and carry 3 extras also, they are only 10 bucks each

^^^ this is what i did also, cheap insurance to have some spares, plus with the warranty they pay themselves off after the first failure.

I got new ones from Napa today and they refunded me for the old one. Also talked to BCS owner today and he said new bad relays aren't uncommon. Put in new relay and my check engine light stayed on while engine was running but fan came on. I unplugged/ plugged my ECM and the light is now off while running???????
Guess it reset itself
I love the power, handling and ride this quad gives me but I'm really starting to miss my good ole reliable and "simple" 400 EX!
I'm always a little skeptical of the high tech stuff cause it seems like more goes wrong with them. Guess everything has it's price though. Thanks guys.

It'll be ok, technology just takes time to get used to. But once you get used to it, you'll the simplicity.
