if you have another person just hold it almost vertical, enough so the oil wont run out, I dont remember if you have to take the bolts that holds the springs tight out or not, but if you do its pretty easy they're just alan screws

I could see it now Dealer "yes sir we did the update" Me " Ok then take the clutch cover off and prove it" Dealer (pauses) "ok we didn't get to it yet"

Do you think asking them to prove it would tick them off ? I would say it would but you got to protect yourself these days. I just can't see puttin out that kind of money for a new bike then turning right around and putting $300 worth of updates that should have been done when it left the factory.

I am still waiting for a response. I really hate to pass it up cause the price is good but if I bought it without the updates I would feel like I was riding a bomb.

I know the basket is a big issue as well so I am willing to replace that just not the other things. Again this sucks balls.

Thanks for the replies

Here’s what I do, I’d have the dealer take the cover off letting him know that you’re sorry but you have heard too many horror stories about this clutch that should have been updated on the 2009 assembly line since it was a well known problem by then. I’d have the 2009-9 update off this site in front of me, then I’d personally check the inner hub part # to the update and 2010 part # (since the 2009-9 bulletin part # 420-259-873 has been superseded by 2010(703500742) for motor # M6748166 and up.), then I’d check the cover to see if it had the 2009-9 oil hole added, then I’d check plate part #s – 2009-9 (420-259-910) have been superseded by 2010(420-259-912) for motor # M6748166 and up….9 steels, 9 frictions. Then if you have not signed up for the racer package do so prior to purchase and get their race billet basket @ a discount or a BCS…..This will assure you have the latest 2010 design which seems to be improved based on the new part #’s……It cost companies money to change part # so must be improved.
