New with beak-in Question

Just bought an 08' 450X and have a Velocity filter and motoworks slip-on on the way! Only has two hours on it now.....was wondering if I could just let the thing sit and run for the rest of the break in period. Is that possible or does it need to go through its paces?

NOOOOOOOOOO...........don't just let it idle...it has to be ridden to break in properly because it requires a higher load for the rings to seat properly....controversial topic about breaking in an engine but I ride it like crazy and run it like a raped ape!!!!

^^^^^X2 you want to get on it for those rings to seat properly, but im not sure about riding like a raped ape with only 2 hours, maybe 7+ hours.

ya, guess I better clarify...just don't be "easy" or "gentle" with it. You don't want to be bouncing off the limiter or WOT for extended periods of time but just ride it!

They say that a motocross track is best because of the ups/downs of the throttle and various throttle positions...

Anyways, sorry if I confused or led you the wrong way@

Thanks guys! So I do not have to ride 1/2 throttle around for the first few hours (that got boring really fast)? And what about the pink wire mod? I've read conflicting reports on here with the success of Mr. Pinky. Has anyone had a dyno done?

yea youll need to cut the pink wire if you got a slip on and filter. but yea like said just ride it, no 1/2 throttle then stop then go, just find a nice trail and go! oh and make sure you get your updates!
