As for the clearance issue with rocky and rutty trails, I put my ride height at the pegs to about 9.5" and rely a lot on the X package sprocket/rotor guard that came with my 08. I use 20" ITP Holeshot HDs and those things tear through pretty much anything. I rode through winter in the snow and spent a lot of time digging my friends out of the snow while mine chugged on through it. I do hit the bottom skid plate a bit too but it's not too bad. I find that I get most annoyed with how bumpy the ride is compared to my Honda Rancher. On the rancher, I can truck it over rocks at high speeds and it's twice as comfortable as the DS.

haha, I was hoping someone would tell me how to make the DS handle those rocks like the rancher, it would make things a bit more comfortable lol.
