Welcome to the site.

I think you'll find that you'll be very pleased with the power of the DS. Do some searching and you'll find everything you need to know to get the most out of your DS.

the better bet would be buying someones old can-am that already has everything done to it. they are cheaper then buying new and have everything that you'll need

agreed on a used can-am. a 2011 IMO might be a waste. find an 09 factory race bike from one of the motoworks guys, prob find one around 6k(honestly i dont know the cost) and they are fully built ready to smack on yfzr's

Why would a 2011 DS be a waste? the price its like $9000 right?

The thing is that here at my country there are few canams only two dudes racing on them. So thats why I want a new one.

What mods you need to be speed competitive against with an YFZR?

one of the guys who has won holeshots for 3 years on an LTR , bought a DS , and came to our pit and said " I never knew a ds had all of that torque "
and his LTR's were the best of the best

I don't think a 2011 would be a waste. If you buy it new you don't have to worry about any suprises. If I was to get a new quad I would buy a left over 2010 but its allways cool to have a brand new atv. You will love a 2011 because they worked out a lot of the little things that trouble some other members on this forum.

The new DS450s have more things added "stock" to them than the originals too!
(ie. for racing- 2008 needed the A-Arm brackets, rear reinforcement plate, bearing carrier, bearings and seals, ignition coil anti-vibe mounts, 2009 includinge the ignition coil anti-vibe mounts, upgraded bearings/carrier, 2010/2011 needed even less)

Get a new one and enjoy!
