new b wondering how good r they?

Hello all my name is Chris I live in upstate NY. I race the local district 3 mx circuit and I am pondering a new build for next season. A local dealership has an 08 DS 450 used priced within my budget, the problem is I don't know much about them the goods the bads the uglies. So I'm after a heads up as to what to look for while test riding and visually looking over the quad. Any and all info would be a big help and greatly appreciated. Also how dependable r they and will the xmx front suspension set up work on the 08 models to widen it to 50"? Sorry for the long winded post.

I would look for a newer xmx model, if I was in your shoes. The 08 will work, but you'll end up spending the same with upgrades, mods, and such. JMO

I agree, 08 would not be the best bet. Everything may workout well, but just incase youd be better off getting a newer DS450 if you can.

What is ur budget btw? If u get the 08 expect to spend a little coin on safe guarding the engine first (BCS clutch, all updates/recalls) and also the $1500 or so to convert it to xmx long travel...u can find a 09 xmx for around $4500 used I think...

An 08 for the right price is fine. The recalls that need to be done are free and you will want to upgrade all years clutch baskets anyway. People are selling their Xmx packages if thats what you want... a base 08 gives you a great platform if you are planning on using aftermarket parts for the build.
