New Owner in MN
Hey, new owner from up here in MN. Got a good deal on a 2008 DS450X...straight trade for a 99 Polaris Sportsman 500. 4x4s are like gold in MN come fall so I'm pretty happy with the deal.
Anyways, before I get to the pics, where are some of the good places to find parts and accessories for the DS? Seems like the usual places like Rocky Mountain and Dennis Kirk don't have stellar selections.
Here's some pics:
Plans are:
-Remove DG front bumper and replace w/stock (you can find it in the marketplace shortly)
-Get rid of flat front tires and excessively large rears
-Put stock Holeshot SRs on
-Can-Am Hand guard kits
-Replace shot rear sprocket
-Clean up bead locks
-Baja style HID light rack on front
-new grips
-Motoworks SR4 Slip-On (maybe full-system)
-Replace black hood with yellow
-new rear grab bar
So as you can see, lots planned. Just need to save up the greenbacks.

Welcome to the site!
Parts answer:
Where to find DS450 parts
Browse the classifieds for stock parts alot of good deals there. Just keep an eye out. Maybe post a wanted add.
I would do a full exhaust over a slip on, you will want it later. SO just pony up and do it one time. Motoworks has a good price on their G2 exhaust.

Welcome to HQ and nice ride!!! What part of Minnesota are you from? I live up in the Duluth area. Seems like you have a pretty good list of ideas for upgrades for you bike.
Like others have said, the Motoworks G2 slip on is a great choice and you can add the headpipe at any time. I don't believe you can add it later with the SR4.
When I bought my XC brand new, the dealer didn't ship it with the hand guards so, like you, I wanted the stock Can-Am hand guards. They are pricey new, mostly because you must buy their mounting bracket. So I ended up with a pair of PowerMadd's and they work great. They Look nice and were pretty easy to install.
As for the tires, also take a look at the ITP Holeshot GNCC tires that come stock on the XC. I had Holeshot SR's on my KFX450R and thought I liked them until I tried out the GNCC's. Plus the SR's seemed to wear faster.

Since this thread has popped up again, here's some updated pics.
jimmyjames1700, I'm down in the north metro but do most of my riding in Pine Center and my cabin 20 miles north of Grand Rapids. Planning on hitting Pine Center area this Friday. I've been dying to try this thing out.
As far as the Holeshot SRs being soft, I actually noticed that just by the way they squeal on my concrete garage floor. You can tell they're a very soft compound.
I may start a new thread for this, but my plastics are fairly shotty and I don't really want to shell out for new ones. Does anyone know of a place that does decent vinyls for the DS? The few places I've looked have been nothing but skulls, crossbones, and all that other garbage. I'd be looking for much more normal than that. Even an X-team wrap would be cool.
Anyways, here's the pics:

Do you want to shine up your plastics?Go to your local paint store,pick-up a product called Penetrol by Flood.Clean plastic well, dry and apply Penetrol with a soft, lint free cloth.Let it dry overnight,it will become quite sticky as it dries, apply a second coat next day if needed. It dries smooth and remains flexable, plus it hold a shine very well.Trust me your plastic will look as shiney as new,you will poop down both legs!

Looking nice, I like the hand guards man. Where is your cabin at, I actually grew up in Hibbing and go there frequently in the summer. Some real fun riding around Penguilly and Nashwauk. If your looking for some riding over a weekend, hit me up and I can show you the sugar sand trails in Wisconsin and Holyoke MN.
