I've had my 2011 sms since august and have 7 or 8 races on it and probably 10 hours of practice time and have not had a single problem with it. The only thing you're paying extra for on a 2012 is pretty much a black frame. Great direction you're heading though this is hands down the most reliable and well engineered fuel injected 450 out. My buddy bought a 2010 yfz450x and has already replaced a fuel pump and water pump on it with only 5 hours on it. My kfx450 I had was horrible electrically wise and caused a ton of DNF results for me last year.

Enjoy the can am

hcomras--pismo is closer for me too, I'm near Calabasas.
Mitch, Gregory & Hcomras-- Actually, hadn't come across any new upgrades that they've done for the '12 version, was just hoping. '11 would be just fine for me. Though I might not have the whole amount to pay someone, would need a bit of financing. Being as old and broke up as I am, I don't need huge power increases, just something fast, smooth and durable. I'd probably only change out the exhaust, intake and vib system for handlebars. The only reason I'd want a new one over a used one is that I just don't trust that someone was as anal about maintenance as I am.

But we'll see what happens once my arm is able to be used in riding, otherwise I might have to get a side by side and leave the 2, 3 & 4 wheelers to you young guys!

blank out
