I just got my DS450 the other day so I haven't looked at it real close. However I know the chain is on the right side like my HPD race frame which means the swinger is probably offset a little to allow the rear sprocket and chain to align with the front sprocket. What this means is that there is no extra clearance for a second ring guard on the inside (closest to the swinger), this is most likely why they use a fin on the swinger. Personally I like the single guard, it's easier for stuff to get stuck in the dual ring guard.

I'm also curious about not running a chain guide myself. If someone could speak up on this that'd be awesome.

I am confused on why you would just not used the PRM swing arm guard..it is cheaper and looks like you would get better protection http://prm-********/MN.asp?pg=produc...=1868&from=114 they also have the chain guide http://prm-********/MN.asp?pg=produc...&from=18&mfr=9

my experience with swing arm guards is in deep ruts and or crossing logs at an angle it's a lot easier to get stuck........not saying they don't offer more protection, but it's a trade off. Risk vs Reward type thing for me anyways.

I used to think the same thing, problem is you have to run the chain tighter (destroys axle bearings) to keep from derailing over big compressions in the rear, causing the chain to pop off and bunch up at the case. This can crack your screw mounting holes for the case saver or worse yet crack the case. Keep some kind of chain guide protection on.
