lightening the frame?

tomorrow i have yet another day off of the bread and butter job, and after im done messing with new silicone adapters for the intake to throttle body, its time to move on to the frame....

so...this might be directed at the drag racing guys, but you have any opinions on where i can cut some corners? removing some extra fat off the DS? i know plastics and nerfs gotta go, but any other areas that can be "removed"?

Yea I saw that its sketchin me out....but they can get trx450r frames w/ motor under 280lbs and still maintain integrity to hit the whoops and jumps...I just want to get around 300/320lbs dry/wet.

DO you know how much a bare frame and subframe from a 450r weigh? DO you no how much a bare ds450 frame and subframe weigh. My guess would be the ds450 frame and subframe weigh less. So I would work on the other things that can be made lighter. FOx floats are very light compared to spring shocks. Lightweight steering stem, put the stock arms on. get rid of beadlocks and go to a thin al rim with a smaller tire. Smaller gas tank.(I would buy if you made one) I think the gas tank is way to big should be like 1.5 gal not 3.5.

im not quiet at the drag racing stage yet, and if i was, the arms and swinger would go and be replaced w/ alumnium arms w/ light shocks, and a laddered rear, im just trying to shave some unladen weight. i realize the shocks are heavyish, but i need em, and dont have $ for floats. and i hated how narrow the stock arms are. just looking to cut corners since i will still dune it and mx it once in a while.

**edit if im stuck with the frame so be it...was just looking for something to do today lol

Do you guys know if anyone makes a titanium bolt "kit" for the DS? There are a lot of bolts and nuts on these things. I wonder how much all these bolts and nuts weigh and how much less weight it'd be with titanium. Guesses???????

Not only a titanium bolt kit, but a bolt kit that has shorter bolts! You could probably take off about 15 pounds from shortening all the bolts and making them titanium. It would probably cost around the $2000ish range though...

If you contact Fourwerx I think they would make what you needed on the bolt kit
