Hmm...

Just got done Reading the article in the new Dirt Wheels about the champ quad. They were talking about the steering made a world of change.

Recently I've been putting my Wienen Quad back together and noticed the Holtz Steering stem is "backwards". I look at the pictures in the article and notice they are the same way. the upper part where the bars mount have HRP facing back.

I always liked how steering and handling was better on the wienen quad rather than my other race quad.

just bored so i figured i'd share!!

I was thinking cause it sets the rider back just an inch more for more control.

Can you post some pics to compare the two setups?

I would like to see this as well. So you mean that they welded the mount on backwards, not that the entire steering stem is flipped around. I can't see how that would be possible.

my houser stem has a 20 degree tilt back. So much so that i had to change my mount link for my stabilizer mount becuase it was to long. The main change to the steering stem on the ds was the use of a suzuki ltr450 stem. I belive you have to use a bearing to make it work.

i can get some pictures up tomorrow. the bottom is still the same and i think like 6 inches up the stem, theres a bolt or something going thru that connects the upper and the lower and the uppwer part is just turns 180degrees.

Interesting. The base of the stem (that the tie rods connect to) is not a Holz, at least it is not the current design they have on their website. It really looks like the base from a stock BRP stem, and then they drilled holes in it and added bolts to have adjustable stops.

We've been running that kind of stem for a couple years. We run the +1 height -1 back. It seems to have kept him on the back of the bike more, which helps with the Can-am's having no traction.
