Check out Fox shocks website. Search around and you'll find a PDF that tells you how to set your suspension up. It all starts with ride height, no matter what shock you use. If you can go to local races, get to know some racers and they usually will be more than happy to help ya out. Here in the steps in Florida a lot of the pro XC racers come down in the winter to our races and they are always very helpful. Gallagher spends most his day helping out guys with tech stuff while he's there.

Here's the PDF that mike_h commented:

Rear Fox Shock:

It's everything explained, sag, high low compression, rebound, etc, but mike_h is right, if anyone with experience can help you is much easier and better.

It'll be the same. Read through and get a good understanding of how the shock works and the importance of proper set up. What I would do is set the ride height first and then set the shocks up in the middle adjustment . Then ride and adjust one click at a time, on each end of the shock. You'll know when you hit your happy spot. Then right them settings down. So when you keep adjusting for different terrain you have a base line.

That's what we are hear for. FYI, I was the same way on understanding how the whole suspension thing works. I read everything I could out there on it and then set the height. Once I got that figured out the next was trying to figure out what each adjustment did. Once I figured that out and got the quad set up for me, speed came up dramatically, I was amazed.

I learned all the horsepower was great but if you couldn't ride it, then it was the most useless mod out there.
