pull rod mod complete

Well I said I'd put up a pic when it was done so here it. I got a foot of steel the same size as the sides for a buck, cut the sides of the pull rod, welded in a 3/8 shim, then welded braces to the outside to reinforce it. Simple as that and only cost a dollar.

Also, you can modify this pull rod longer to lower your ride height for some special application as TT or ice racing.

Just did mine yesterday. I went a touch longer though. I saw in another post that 3/8 lowered the rear buy 3/4. So I figured in the saw kerf cut and went 1/2 spacer then stitched in 1/4 square bar. I'll post up the results this weekend. I don't know if I'll get to ride though.

I was surprised to be able to notice just by looks that it set 3/4" lower. Still haven't ridden enough to really notice a big performance difference. Kinda like a loud exhaust makes ya go faster!
I race this Saturday with some open sweeping turns so ill post up how it did.
Definitely didn't hurt a thing though.
Good, cheap, easy mod!

That's what I think. I have an epic on my quad now so it will be swapped for the modified stock on. If I don't like it I'll put the epic back on. If I like the epic will go up for sale, probably with the option of being modified.

True Chubby but lowering the subframe only lowers the subframe. The pull rod mod lowers the entire rear end of the quad and according to Rocket Ron it allows for full travel of the shock. So in my mind the rod mod is cheaper, easier and more effective.

Can you do both?....lower the sub-frame and the pull-rod mod. Does that introduce clearance issue? I'd like to see a before and after pic to see the difference in the way the DS sits!
