My dealer recommended a 15 x 39 ratio to get the DS450 as fast as possible.

I didn't knew anything about the right ratio on the DS, so I agreed.

Now,the bike is fast, but it seems I got some trouble riding at slow speed. We have a lot of villages here where the speed limit is 20 mph, but my bike is almost knocking off at that speed, as I have to ride in the 1st gear, playing a lot with the clutch, kind of restless.
Very annoying when I'm stuck between a couple of cars which are going like 18-20 mph for 5 miles.

What are your recommendations regarding this issue?

Well: mostly on the road, but I want to be able to do some country cross too.
So, instead of the best setting for the road or cross, I wish to have the average for both.

I have now a 34 * 15 (not sure about the 15, but it seems so)

I wouldn't use the 15 tooth sprocket unless I had engine work.

I would leave it stock 14 -42 until you get some mods.

Oh, it seems my current (stock) configuration is 15 (or 14, have to check) - 34.
Maybe this is different in Europe, for use on the road (street-legal).

I'm lost with those configs: Can't find out which is the best for me. (more power, less speed), because I have to give a lot of gas to make this thing move in the 1rst gear.

hi it is the same for me !
I have 15x34 treansmission and it is not good for riding in country side.
So I have ordered front sprocket 13 thooth to do 13x34 transmission.
original ration 15/34 = 0.441 (very long)
MX ration 14/42 = 0.333 (very short)
my proposal 13/34 = 0.382 it is just in the middle

will see if it is better !
