I have been practicing starts on dirt and been finding 2nd gear works best. Does anybody have experience starting on cement? What gear? And do you bother heating the tires?

Soon to be upgraded to 2009 MX - race package.

Thanks

I never heat the tires, they cost to much money. lol. But i used to be decent at starts, and now i have found they are the only reason I'm not winning more. I can pass, but you can only pass so many people in 3 or 4 laps.

For tips on starts, just try and stay in a neutral stance on the bike, not to far forward or back. Don't just dump the clutch either, it spins the tires too much.

I always start in second now, dirt or concrete. I've had alot of good starts this season and four holeshots so far. I have found that it is true, alot of it is mental. I hope to bag a few more holeshots before 2009 is over. Good luck!!
