Okay, so I am in Iraq right now, and I just orderd the full MotoWorks Corbon SR4 pipe for my 08 DS450X. I am wondering if I can just put the pipe on and call it good, or do I have to do anything certon?... Do I have to cut the Pink Wire? Is there anything I really HAVE to do? I would really like a full detaled messege on what I must do.. My email is elliottappl@yahoo.com You can find me threw facebook on that as well, which might help me...
First off Elliott just want to say thanks to you and all of your fellow soliders for all that you do for this great country of ours, please be safe over there.as for they tech info these guys will set you up.
Hey, thanks for your support! Not alot these days. Im sorry though, but what do you mean by "Tech info guys will set you up" Who??? Im sure im in a retarded moment right now.. Been up on guard duty for some time now! Made sure to grab my laptop
just saying that your questions will be answered but a bunch of knowlegable fellow ds owners, they have helped me out on the set up of my 09 XXC,and a motoworks pipe is next
You need to try it with pink wire cut and the lid off the airbox and then with the lid on the airbox. My DS-450 with the aluminum SR4 and pink wire cut acts a little lean with the airbox lid off (backfiring off throttle). It does run well both ways. That is fine now since I don't feel like putting money into it by dynoing it to check the mixture.
Im just wondering how much of a difference you got from your stock pipe, and the SR4? Im guessing you did not use a fuel controler... Is using one even nesseicary?
It feels faster but it might be fooling me since it is louder and sounds more powerfull. You really can't trust seat of the pants feelings. You need to compaire lap times or put it on a dyno to really know what the parts did.
The fuel controller will add power and since it gives you a more accurate/customized fuel map than the pink wire can.
I would wait on the controller until you are bored with the pipe and pink wire mod. Then spend the money on the new accessory for your DS450 a few months later. If you do all the mods at once there is no place to go when you get bored with it.
A slip on and cutting the pink wire will make a noticeable difference. At least it did with my HMF. I could easily tell that when I took mine to the dunes. The first year I was running with the pink wire cut and baffle pulled out and it did alright. Second year I did the HMF competition slip on, pink wire cut, and a K&N filter. I can honestly say it made a noticeable difference in the sand. It was much easier to ride the dunes without having to shift so much. I also notice it when I am racing hair scrambles. It has more on the bottom end so I have to shift a lot less.
ZX11 you got a good point on waiting to upgrade everything at once.. Thanks for your tips. I was thinking on drilling a few small holes in my airbox as well. (Not anything to big though) I got my dad hooking it up for me while im here. I'll let you know what he thinks on the difference.. I also got a Silver Star graphic kit from AMR.com, hope that looks sweet. I'll have him put some pics up....
i started with pink wire cut, and air lid off, helped little. then ordered full pipe that help alot and then ordered a k&n filter that helped also. but i thought my quad ran lean but ran good! so then i bought a fmf programmer it seams like quad is running perfect! quad is running a bit cooler smother and way better bottom and mid! i think a pc3 or pc5 would be a great choice also from what ive been hearing! i hope this helps.
